Is your home infested with ants? Mix borax and sugar to eliminate them. While they are attracted to the sugar, they will be killed by the borax. Mix a cup of sugar and a cup of borax in a quart jar. Place holes in that lid, then sprinkle it along your foundation and baseboards.
If you have a water leak, fix it promptly. Pests gravitate toward sources of water. They can sense drips and leaking in pipes. Prevent this from attracting pests. Put in a little effort and deal with your pest problem before it gets out of hand.
Plant new trees farther away from your home to cut down on rats and mice in your house. This makes it easy for rodents to climb and then enter your house through the roof or attic. A good rule of thumb is to plant trees no less than 15 feet from the edge of your house.
When battling mice near your home, try mint. Plan mint around the perimeter of your house. The unpleasant smell will prevent them from entering your home. If mice is living in your home, you can sprinkle mint leaves all around the area where you see signs of mice. This will keep mice away a lot of the time, but you have to use fresh mint leaves.
Make sure you rinse your recyclables before putting them in the recycle bin. It is especially important to rinse items that contain sugar, such as soda cans. Be certain to rinse the cans fully so that it goes into the garage clean.
Check the plumbing in your house, if you have pests. Be sure all drains and sinks are unclogged around your home and inside your home. The things that build up in drains can be a feast to cockroaches and flies. Once you clear the drains, give them a monthly check.
No matter whether you can see signs of infestation or not, have the entire residence examined anyway. If your house is underground, you might have underground termites. Check out your basement and any other underground area.
Hairspray can kill many flying insects. Hairspray is safe for you and your pets, but not for flying insects. Hairspray sticks to bugs and disables them. Hairspray is a wonderful way to deal with those tiny creatures that you may not want to come in too close of contact with.
If you find a mouse hole in your walls or floors, cuts small pieces of steel wool and stuff into the hole. They will die after trying to eat into the steel wool. Wood putty mixed with steel wool makes for a great spackle.
